Ayodhya is a city of cultural significance that is situated in the district of Faizabad in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. The neighboring twin town of Ayodhya is Faizabad and it shares its municipal corporation with it. The city Ayodhya is well identified and popular because it is believed that it is the birthplace of Rama as well as setting of the Ramayana.
Ayodhya has been regarded as one of the seven most important pilgrimage sites that is also known as 'Saptapuri' for Hindus. Legends also believe that the birth place of Rama was marked by a holy temple, which is said to have demolished in orders under the Mughal Emperor Babur.
